FAQ about TaB

1. Do they still make TaB?

Yes! Many people think that TaB was discontinued in the late 1980s, early 1990s, but TaB has been in continuous production since 1963. There have been a few different incarnations of TaB throughout the years as The Coca-Cola Compay experimented with different sweeteners and flavors. See the History of TaB for more information.

2. Who makes TaB?

TaB is manufactured by The Coca-Cola Company. The Coca-Cola Company actually makes the TaB syrup concentrate, and then TaB is “bottled” (we wish!) by various bottlers across the country. TaB is then distributed to markets throughout the country. In some areas of the country (for example, the San Francisco Bay Area, which is covered by the Oakland bottler) TaB is not available because the local bottler decided to stop bottling TaB. If you are unlucky enough to live in one of these areas, you will have to drive to another area covered by a different bottler.

3. Where can I buy TaB?

TaB is a product of The Coca-Cola Company. Each individual bottler determines what products to bottle and distribute for their region. Most bottlers still bottle TaB fortunately, and it can be found at most grocery stores–usually hidden right by the Diet Coke. If you cannot find TaB in your area, please see this article on how to find TaB in your area.

4. I can’t find TaB anywhere near me, what can I do?

5. I want TaB in 2 Liter bottles/20oz bottles. Where can I find them?

In the United States, TaB is only available in 12oz cans, except in New England. Click here to read where 2-Liter bottles are available.

6. How can I help save TaB?

First, sign the Save TaB Petition. Then contact The Coca-Cola Company via telephone, email, or snail mail and tell them you love TaB Also contact your local bottler and tell them to keep making TaB. Tell everyone you know about this website, and of course, drink TaB! It is important to increase the number of TaB drinkers, so try to convert friends and family as well.

7. Does TaB give you cancer?

No. The sweetener saccharin is very safe, in fact much safer that Nutra-Sweet (aspartame). Read this article for more information.

8. Where can I buy TaB merchandise?

9. What is TaB Energy? Is it replacing regular TaB?

TaB Energy is a new drink developed by The Coca-Cola Company. You can read more about TaB Energy here. According to the article, TaB Energy is not replacing regular TaB. Phew!

10. What is the difference between Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Diet Coke with Splenda, and TaB?

The difference between these products is the sweetener used. Diet Coke is sweetened with Nutra-Sweet (aspartame), Coke Zero is sweetened with Nutra-Sweet and Ace-K (acesulfame potassium), Diet Coke with Splenda is sweetened with Splenda (sucralose), and TaB is sweetened with saccharin and Nutra-Sweet. To furthur confuse the issue, all fountain diet soda (including Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi) is sweetened with a saccharin and Nutra-Sweet blend — saccharin is more stable that Nutra-sweet. For more information, read this article.

11. Do they still make TaB Clear?

TaB Clear is no longer made. In the early 1990s, when “clear” was the fad, The Coca-Cola Company briefly made TaB Clear. We haven’t heard of anyone in the US that liked it — it had a weird gingery bite to it. However, we have received many emails from the UK inquiring about TaB Clear–we are guessing the formula was different overseas.

FAQ about ILoveTaB.com

1. Who are you?

Read all about us here.

2. Why did you create this site?

In 1996, we searched and searched Alta Vista, and could not find a thing on our beloved TaB! So we decided to create our own site for fellow addicts to come together (click here to view the archived site). For several years we talked about resurrecting the old site, but it wasn’t until early 2004 we decided to take action. In late 2005 we re-did the site again. And again in 2012. And now we are trying again (August 2019!) We love TaB, and we want to do as much as we can to make sure it stays available.

3. Why do you like TaB so much?

Good question.. We are not sure. From our experience and observation, TaB appeals to some people, and not at all to others. For Natalie, she likes that is not as sweet tasting as Diet Coke, and perhaps is a little bubblier? Hmmm.
