ILoveTaB.com Newsletter – August 2005

Hello fellow TaB drinkers!

ILovaTaB.com recently passed the 10,000 hit mark! Keep sending people to the site, we need work our way to the the top of a Google search for “tab cola.” :)

At Wide Awake Coffee and Tea they are offering a great deal–around $22/case plus around $6 FLAT RATE shipping! It is a miracle. Normally the cost of shipping TaB is more than the TaB itself! Looks like they are shipping to US only (minus Alaska and Hawaii)

A bunch of licensed TaB merchanidise has been popping up lately such as tshirt, jewlery, etc. Please check out this link to the latest TaB products.

Tell people to write to Glamour magazine to complain about the misinformation they are spreading about TaB!! Arg.

We have a new Save TaB Petition — please sign it!

We have added a bunch of other fun features, so please explore the site.

*new* TaB Message Boards

In addition to our ILoveTaB.com chat group on Google, message boards are now set up on the ILoveTaB.com Facebook page:

See you there!

TaB and Facebook

I just realized there are over 90 TaB groups focused on TaB! Lots of fun, but a bit confusing.

The *OFFICIAL* ILoveTaB.com Facebook page is here:

ILoveTaB. com on Facebook

When you search for “TaB cola” on Facebook, the first result looks like an ILoveTaB.com group, but is is not. They have copied/stolen our logo and photos. I have requested that they take this information down ASAP. If they do not, I will report the group to Facebook.

Please join the real ILoveTaB.com Facebook group – the more members we have, the better!

ILoveTaB. com on Facebook

I will send out an ILoveTaB.com newsletter this week with this information as well.

Nightowl – can you please post a link to your Facebook group? Since there are 90+ results, I can’t figure out which group is yours…

Cheers,
Natalie :)

No more new user registration for now…

Unfortunately due to tons of spam-bots, we have had to add some additional security to ILoveTaB.com. In addition to temporarily restricting new user registration, we have closed the message boards until we can come up with a fix.

ILoveTaB.com mentioned on Houston Press Blog

ILoveTaB.com member Jennifer, aka Miss Pop Rocks, recently mentioned ILoveTaB.com on her blog (September 24, 2007).

Please click here to read the article.

“My name is Miss Pop Rocks, and I’m a Tab addict. I just wanted you to know that. And I wanted you to know that it’s safe to admit that you may be a Tab addict too.

Tab. Just saying the name makes me feel cuter. And thinner. Tab. That delicious manna from Heaven that keeps your waistline trim and comes in an adorable little pink can. Pink!

Of course, loving the totally 80s diet soda comes with its challenges. There are only a few Krogers near my house that carry it, and I have yet to find a restaurant in the Houston area that offers it. During the lunch break at my place of employment, I’m forced to listen to such comments as, “Oh my God, do they still make Tab?, “Are you seriously drinking Tab? and, from the younger set, “What’s Tab? I was starting to feel alone, lost, and out of place.

Then I found http://www.ilovetab.com, a Web site devoted to the joy that is the Tab product. And suddenly all was right with the world again.

According to http://www.ilovetab.com, I am in the company of such celebs as Andy Warhol, Mary Louise Parker, Kellie Martin, Rachael Ray, Tori Spelling, and Houston’s own ZZ Top. In addition, I discovered that Tab has been name-checked and spotted in such films as “Fletch Lives, “Airplane II, and every one of the Austin Powers movies. In the novel “Less Than Zero, by Bret Easton Ellis, there’s a mention of Tab in at least three places, and the drink also pops up in the recent Pulitzer Prize winning “Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides (page 335 to be exact).

I was informed by my Tab friends that despite nasty urban myths to the contrary, Tab does not give you cancer! (Not that that would have stopped me from drinking it.) There are even links on the site that connect you to places that sell super cute Tab tees.

So to my fellow Tab lovers, never fear. The next time someone makes fun of you for drinking Tab, roll your eyes and remind them that you’re not alone. Remember, ZZ Top drinks Tab, too. ”

Thanks Jennifer!

About ILoveTaB.com

Who are we?

Well, two hard core TaB junkies. Natalie began drinking TaB at a very young age, due to her mother’s addiction (it tends to run in families). In 1993 Chris and Natalie met, and a co-dependant relationship blossomed! From nursing hangovers with TaB to pulling all-nighters studying for exams with our trusty pink cans, we went through it all.

We were lucky then, since TaB was widely available in our hometowns and school. (Although Chris did mount a lengthy battle to convince the school to sell six-packs on the main campus.)

What is ILoveTaB.com?

This is the fourth incarnation of our TaB site. In 1996 we created the first web site for TaB addicts to come together and talk about their experiences, addictions, and search for the increasingly-rare TaB. We got a fantastic response from TaB addicts across the globe!

Many many cases of TaB later, we decided to spruce up our site. TaB addicts are dying off–Natalie’s mother has even given it up! This means that TaB is at extreme risk of disappearing off the shelves–forever!

We need to let Coca-Cola know that as long as they make TaB, we will be here to drink it.

Cheers, and glad to have you here,

Natalie & Chris

About Us

Chris is in his 12th year of TaB addiction. He met Natalie–and TaB–as a student at Duke University. He has been lugging those little pink cans with him ever since. He currently stores his belongings in San Francisco and Madrid, but can’t seem to decide which one is home. (There is more TaB in Spain, but it tastes funny. And he can’t understand anyone.) He works as a web programmer, mostly for Trekmail.com. He studies Spanish, has lost at least 3 years of his life to Google, has way too many houseplants and is always obsessed with some new piece of trivia. (Some recent topics: Citicorp Tower and The Walking Snakehead Fish.)

Natalie has been a TaB drinker for over 16 years, and also is responsible for co-founder Chris’ addiction. She is originally from northern California, but has lived in Tokyo, Atlanta, Durham, Seattle, and Los Angeles before settling in the Bay Area. Though her interest and dedication to TaB has held fast, her career interests have unfortunately not been quite as clear. Bouncing from working in a nursing home, to hanging up countless bras in Victoria’s Secret, to pursuing her PhD in Molecular Biology, she has tried it all. For the past several years Natalie has worked as a freelance makeup artist, a career choice that so far seems to be “sticking.” [update – well, now Natalie is going into DNA forenscis, maybe this will work). Besides TaB, makeup, and genetic engineering, Natalie loves ice skating, playing games, taking polaroid pictures, and questing for the perfect bottle of $8 champagne. Cheers! Natalie’s Friendster profile is here – add her as a friend!

Special thanks to our friends and family for putting up with our endless TaB talk and demands of disproportionate fridge space.
